Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Islamic Students Association (HMI) hosted U.S. Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) Kristen Bauer for a discussion on human rights and democracy at their leadership training conference in Depok.

DCM Bauer delivered remarks outlining some of the important elements that contribute to the success of a democracy , including a vibrant civil society, religious freedom, and protection of minorities, the U.S. Embassy here said in its official web site on Monday.

The audience of 150 Muslim university students discussed with the DCM democracy and human rights, U.S. foreign policy, and education exchange opportunities.

Chandra, chairman of HMI Depok, said the students highly appreciated the opportunity to speak with the DCM and said her talk was constructive and inspiring. (A014)
