"As I have said if KPK needs me I will always be ready to come to tell everything they want to know from me. If I am not mistaken I would be questioned as a witness for four suspects," he said.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Agriculture Minister Suswono came to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) here on Monday following a summons from the agency for questioning as a witness over a corruption case.

"As I have said if KPK needs me I will always be ready to come to tell everything they want to know from me. If I am not mistaken I would be questioned as a witness for four suspects," he said upon arrival at the agency at 1.15 pm.

The former president of the minister`s Prosperous and Justice Party, Luthfi Hasan Ishaaq, has recently been named suspect by KPK in a corruption case linked to cow meat imports.

Other suspects already named by KPK were Luthfi`s close ally Ahmad Fathanah and two directors of an import company PT Indoguna Utama, Juard Effendi and Arya Abdi Effendi.

KPK has confiscated evidence including cash money worth Rp1 billion as part of a total of Rp40 billion in commitment fees to secure up to 8,000 tons in a meat import quota for PT Indoguna Utama.

KPK confiscated the cash money from Ahmad Fathanah and Maharani, a girl found with Fathanah, during Ahmad`s capture.

Luthfi is alleged to have violated an article in the Criminal Act for receiving gifts or making pledges linked to his duty as a state official.

KPK had also summoned president director of PT Indoguna Utama, Maria Elisabeth Liman, former general chairman of the Indonesia Seeds Association, Elda Devianne Adiningrat, Soewarso Martomidhardjo and Jerry Roger from private parties to give testimony at the agency that day.(*)
