Jakarta (ANTARA News) - At least thirty four Indonesian students, ranging from junior to senior high schools, will participate in several international science olympiad competitions after winning the Fifth Indonesian Science Project Olympiad (ISPO) here on Thursday.

"We only facilitate students to be selected to participate in a number of international science Olympiads in foreign countries," said Secretary General of the ISPO Sabar Risdadi here on Thursday afternoon.

He said that the ISPO has assessed research projects of the participants since Tuesday (Feb 26) to Wednesday (Feb 27) and announced the winners on Thursday.

According to him, the ISPO has selected at least 150 science project finalists from 985 researches that originated from 173 schools of 23 provinces in Indonesia.

Sabar said the research projects that have been selected to be the finalists in the ISPO 2013 consist of 32 researches on biology, 33 science projects on the environment sector and 29 projects on the chemistry sector.

Besides, there are also 23 researches on the physics sector, and also 20 research projects on the technology sector as well as 13 projects on the computer technology sector.

The thirty four students who are lucky to represent Indonesia in several international sciences Olympiad consist of:

1. Gama Tando and A. Citradela Mustikasari of Kesatuan Bangsa Senior High School and Apriliani Soffa and Ria Safitri of SMA PGRI 2 Kayen, Pati, Central Java. They will go to International Young Project Olympiad in Georgia.

2. Leonardo Ardianto and Christian Edwin of SMA Santa Laurensia as well as M. Rizal with Rizki Rahmadani of SMAN 6 Yogyakarta. They will go to Dreamline International Design Olympiad in Ankara, Turkey.

3. Nisrina Nuramalia of SMA Kharisma Bangsa, Banten and Edwin Lutfhi with Stevvany of SMAN 10, Malang. They will go to Genius Olympiad in USA.

4. Wibawa and Luthfi of SMAN 1 Kudus as well as Muh Mukhlas Abror and Fadhil Imam Kurnia of SMAN 3 Semarang. Tney will take part in the Info Matrix International Computer Project Competition in Romania.

5. Tika Nuraini of SMA Kesatuan Bangsa and Weisberg Teddy as well as Edwin Wijaya of SMA Santa Laurensia. They will join the International Sustainable Energy, Engineering, and Environment Project Olympiad in Texas, USA.

6. Vania Erriza and Shafira Raudya of SMA Semesta, Semarang and Jenny Purnamawati with Queen Votka Rosadi of SMK Boedi Oetomo 2 Gandrung Mangu. They will take part in the International Environment and Science Project Olympiad in the Netherlands.

7. Muh Ridho of SMAN 1 Kudus and Taufik Adiwijoyo with Naufa Hanip of SMA 3 Semarang. They participate in the International Competition in Turkey.

8. Muh. Juanda Putra with Cakti Dhewana of SMA Pribadi, Bandung and Rintya Miki and Dwi Nailul Izzah of SMA Muhamadiyah 1 Babat, Lamongan, East Java, as well as Aya Shika Vinaytha with Ahmi Yofaniar of SMA Kesatuan Bangsa Yogyakarta. They will take part in the International Environment Project Olympiad in Azerbaijan.

9. Angela Lois and Regina Palma of SMA Santa Laurensia Banten as well as Afrizki Bagus of SMAN South Sumatra Sampoerna Academy. They will join the International Science and Technology Exhibition in Brazil.

Besides selecting students for participation in several foreign science research competitions, the ISPO will also sent several participants to the International Science Project Olympiad (ISPro) which will be held in Indonesia on May 2013.(*)
