"We think Mahfud is fit to become a KPK adviser."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is eyeing current chief justice of the Constitutional Court, Mahfud MD, to be recruited as the agency`s adviser.

"We think Mahfud is fit to become a KPK adviser. But whether or not he is willing to become one it all depends on him," KPK spokesman Johan Budi said here on Monday.

KPK is currently seeking four advisers for the period of 2013-2017 in line with the law. The present two advisers, namely Zainal Abidin and Abdullah Hehamahua, plan to resign after the end of their term, the former because of old age while the letter because he has been in the post for two terms.

Mahfud MD will end his tenure on April 1 and has already notified the House of Representatives that he would resign after the end of his present term.

Johan Budi said until now only one had applied for the post and so the selection committee plans to invite figures to join the agency.

KPK has already opened registration for the vacancies since February 25.
