Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The composite share price index of the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) gained slightly on Wednesday morning trade on regional sentiment.

The BEI index rose 11.96 points or 0.25 percent to 4,854.48 points with index of 45 mots liquid stocks gaining 5.94 points or 0.73 percent to 824.78 points.

"The majority of Asian markets grew this morning to follow the US market, which strengthened last night," Samuel Sekuritas` analyst Yualdo Yudoprawiro said .

Yualdo said the US market closed higher 0.7 percent last night on positive sentiment brought about by better than expected US economic data.

However, a number of stocks which have recorded significant gain in the past two days are vulnerable on possible profit taking such as construction, property, cement and crude palm oil shares as well as shares of Astra International (ASII), he predicted.

Regional markets Hang Seng recorded a 0.74 percent increase in index to 22,476.69 points, Nikkei-225 suffered a decline of 0.04 percent in index to 12,466.93 points and Straits Times gained in index by 0.40 percent to 3,301.58 points.
