Police found 158 packages that tested positive for cannabis in two trucks stopped at a toll booth, authorities said.
The FARC rebels reportedly planned to distribute the marijuana in Colombia`s capital, where authorities said they already have prevented the sales of 14 billion Colombian pesos` (about 7.6 million U.S. dollars) worth of drugs.
"The large quantity corresponds to the shortage in Bogota as a result of the strong and coordinated police operations against the city`s main marijuana retailers," authorities said.
Police also dismantled a cocaine processing laboratory in rural Barbacoas, in Colombia`s southwest Narino department. The lab, which belonged to a FARC faction, had the capacity of processing about 2 tons of cocaine per month, officials said.
The rebels are believed to rely partly on the drug trade to fund their movements, mostly by taxing Colombia`s cocaine producers and traffickers.(*)
