"Our approach to the agenda must include inclusive growth, environment protection, peace, security, justice and freedom," Yudhoyono said.
Bali (ANTARA News) - Indonesia emphasized the importance of strong partnership at the opening of the UN`s High Level Panel of Eminent Persons Meeting on the post-2015 development agenda here on Wednesday.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said in his speech that sustainable development efforts to improve peoples` welfare through poverty eradication required strong partnership which has therefore been made as the main theme for the 4th HLPEP meeting here.

"Our approach to the agenda must include inclusive growth, environment protection, peace, security, justice and freedom," he said.

He said partnership of all parties would be needed to achieve the post-2015 Millennium Development Goals.

"We need economic and social transformation to empower people so that they could get out of poverty. And through government policies we build national strength and sustainable development," he said.

President Yudhoyono said development efforts that the government must make must include job creation, improving productivity and competitiveness, making innovations and new technologies, infrastructure development and boosting domestic institutional strength.

"We believe the transformation would create growth, transparent management of human resources and contribute to private sectors` development," he said.

President Yudhoyono believed the meeting could finalize discussions of issues for reporting to the UN Secretary General in May.

He also believed the results of the meeting would not be short-term but would be useful for future generations.

President Yudhoyono co-chaired the meeting with President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf as the other co-chair, British prime minister David Cameron, failed to attend the meeting due to domestic engagements.

David Cameron would deliver his speech in a video conference at the meeting also attended by president of the UN General Assembly, Vuk Jeremi, special advocate for inclusive finance for development and honorary patron of the G20 Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion Princess Maxima of the Netherlands, director of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, Jeffrey D Sachs and Founder and Chairman of Open Society Foundations, George Soros.(*)
