Jakarta (ANTARA News) - US Ambassador Scot Marciel hosted Indonesian officials, business leaders, and civil society to highlight the progress on implementation of the Millennium Challenge Corporation Compact signed with Indonesia in November 2011, the US Embassy here said.

The Millennium Challenge Account' Indonesia (MCA-I) organization, now has a board of directors and a Chief Executive Officer to oversee the administration of the $600 million the United States will provide in grants to support the Compact over the next five years, the embassy said on its web site on Thursday.

The Millennium Challenge Account - Indonesia will focus on three projects to achieve economic growth: The Green Prosperity Project will support low-carbon economic growth by expanding renewable energy and improving the management of natural resources.

The Community-Based Nutrition to Prevent Stunting Project will reduce and prevent low birth weight, childhood stunting and malnourishment.

According to the embassy, the Procurement Modernization Project targets significant savings in government procurements and improve the delivery of public services.

The MCC compact with Indonesia is proof of a mutual commitment to improving the quality of life of Indonesians and strengthening ties between our two countries under the U.S.-Indonesia Comprehensive Partnership.
