"Of course, the President will follow up on the BPK`s finds."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has promised to follow up on the irregularities found by the State Audit Board (BPK) in the management of state funds, the agency`s chief Hadi Purnomo said.

"Of course, the President will follow up on the BPK`s finds," he said after a meeting with the President to convey a summary of the board`s second-semester audit results here on Thursday.

Hadi said the BPK found 13 thousand cases with a potential state loss of Rp9.72 trillion in the second half of 2012. In the past five years, the agency found a potential state loss of Rp85.72 trillion, of which Rp17.5 trillion has been returned to the state.

He said cases involving criminal offenses in the second half of 2012 with a potential state loss of Rp195.37 billion had been referred to the authorized agencies.

Between late 2003 and 2012, the BPK referred 332 cases of alleged criminal offenses with a state loss of Rp34.35 trillion to the authorized agencies, he said.

Of the total, 41 were referred to the police, 178 to the public prosecutor`s offices, and 113 to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). A total of 186 cases or 56.02 percent were followed up, he said.
