Jakarta (ANTARA News) - "CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters 2013" Tournament is expected to help popularize golf to the Indonesian people, General Manager of Royale Jakarta Golf Club Adrian Wahyudi said here on Thursday.

"We expect the event could help promote golf and make it popular among our people," Adrian told the media.

He said Indonesia should be a champion in international golf tournaments.

According to him, Indonesian Masters 2013 is to be participated in by international and national golfer.

Gatot Subagio, the Head of PT CIMB Niaga Corporate Communication, explained that his corporation helps support the tournament to find potential athlete from junior until professional levels.

"We have been pleased with the implementation of the Indonesian Master since CIMB has sponsored the event in 2012. Our main goal is to bridge the gap of golf among Indonesians," he said.

Indonesian Master 2013 will be held on May 2-5, and will be participated in by several international golfers such as Ernie Els from South Africa and Bern Wiesberger from Austria.

Ernie Els expressed his readiness to compete in the classy event, as part of his Asian Tour series next month. He hoped to win the Indonesian Master 2013.

"I didn`t not play in Indonesia for a long time. I`m ready to come back and show the best game facing several great players," he said.

Indonesian Masters 2013 will be held at Royale Jakarta Golf Club offering total prizes worth $750,000.
