Xi`an, China (ANTARA News) - Indonesia-China economic cooperation has increased 300 percent in the past three years, Indonesian ambassador to China Imron Cotan said.

"Upon close observation the volume of trade, investment and tours visits between the two countries have risen by up to 300 percent," he said when opening a Tourism, Trade and Investment Promotion Forum here on Saturday.

The Indonesia representative office in China has routinely participated in the TTI forum since 2010 as part of efforts to help boost cooperation between the two countries following the signing of the declaration of Strategic Partnership in April 2005.

He said in 2010 China `s investment in Indonesia was recorded at US$600 million and in 2012 it rose US$2 billion.

In the field of tourism, the number of Chinese tourists to Indonesia in 2010 was recorded at only 260,000 but in 2012 the number jumped to 850,000 and this year it is expected to reach around one million, he said.

Improvement has also been seen in the field of trade which reached US$66.2 billion in 2012 which was higher than around US$60.59 billion in the years before, he said.

The ambassador said Indonesia expects the trade to reach US$70 billion this year to make the target set at US$80 billion by 2015 to be achieved earlier.

He said China has now been one of Indonesia`s trade partners. In the future it was hoped the economic cooperation could be further increased and expanded as well cooperation in other fields such as political, social and cultural, he added.

Xi`an deputy mayor Duan Xian Nian meanwhile said on the occasion that a lot of potential sectors were available for cooperation between Indonesia and Xi`an.

"There are a lot of opportunities for cooperation by the two sides in view of Indonesia`s economic resources including natural and human resources," he said.
