Kupang (ANTARA News) - Deputy Minister of Justice and Human Rights Denny Indrayana admitted that illegal levies were still seen as a homework till now within the circle of his ministerial office.

"Therefore, we should have a strong commitment and work hard to eradicate illegal levies," he said while giving directives to prospective civil servants within the province`s justice and human rights office here early this week.

He acknowledged that illegal levies were still ongoing in this office due to poor integrity of the staff on importance of avoiding themselves from illegal levies.

For that reason, the integrity of each civil servant in central down to regional offices has to be maintained against illegal levies.

Bybuilding such a commitment on integrity within his ministerial office, the eradication of corruption through sustainable efforts could be achieved, he said.

Furthermore, he also explained that illegal levies is similar to corruption and therefore it must be wiped out by a strong integrity of each officers.

It was said that his ministerial office will never stop to take such a series of efforts to combat illegal levies and corruption in that institution.

"I will never stop talking about illegal levies and corruption. I hope that each officer in his ministerial office will inculcate the importance of integrity in their mind," said Denny.

Whatever the reason, illegal levies is forbidden in law. Hence there is no reason to justify the logic to commit it.

"Illegal levies are similar to corruption and therefore no reason could be used to justify it," he said.

The culture of corruption is recently seen as a justification to legalize disdainful practices and is sometime likened to cooperation between perpetrators and receivers of the bribes.

"Therefore when the rejection of illegal levies, the perpetrators always said `sorry` as a form of rejection. In fact, it is actually something misguiding," he said.

Denny expected a change of views on illegal levies, so that it could be eradicated just for the sake of law enforcement and creating dignity of life.
