Washington (ANTARA News/Xinhua) - A U.S. man has been arrested after making a bomb threat outside the White House, the police said Wednesday (April 10).

Washington D.C. police spokesman Araz Alali identified the man as 44-year-old Krzysztof Wasik of Hazle Township, Pennsylvania. Alali said he approached an officer at the White House gates at about 5 a.m. Wednesday and said a bomb would detonate in a nearby truck.

Surrounding streets and one of the entrances to a nearby Metro station were shut down as the Secret Service inspected the vehicle for explosives. After nothing dangerous was found, the streets were reopened.

Wasik has been charged with making felony threats and is being held pending a court appearance.
