Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono chaired a limited cabinet meeting at his office here on Wednesday to discuss the preparation of fuel oil subsidy policy which is to be implemented in May this year.

Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Jero Wacik said the president would like to obtain the detail of a meeting on Tuesday with provincial governors to discuss a plan to reduce the oil subsidy.

Wacik said that in Tuesday`s meeting with the provincial governors, government`s plan to raise subsidized fuel oil price for private cars to around Rp6,500 - Rp7,000 per liter.

"Thus, the president chaired the meeting today to obtain the detail of the policy and when to be implemented," the energy and mineral resources said.

Meanwhile, presidential spokesman Julian Aldrin Pasha said Wednesday`s meeting was the follow up of the previous one at Cipanas Palace in West Java recently.

He said the meeting was held to draw up the option of subsidized fuel oil policy and to anticipate its impact.

"It is still being discussed to take the best possible option, related to fuel oil subsidy," Julian said.

Present at the meeting were related economic ministers, National Police Chief Gen Timur Pradopo, TNI Chief Admiral Agus Suhartono, and State Intelligent Agency Chief Marciano Norman.
