Bukittinggi, W Sumatra (ANTARA News) - Youth and Sports Affairs Minister Roy Suryo is expected to open the 10-K Tourism running race in West Sumatra provincial city of Bukittinggi on May 12, 2013, organizing committee spokesman said.

"We have sent a letter of request to the Youth and Sports Minister. Hopefully he is ready to open the event," Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee Achmad Saimi said here on Thursday.

The 13th 10-K running race will be participated in by around 10 thousand athletes, including those from neighboring countries, he said, adding that the annual race has been taking place since 1985.

Saimi said further that the organizing committee provided total price worth Rp 180 million derived from grant set by the local office of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI).

The 10-K event is conducted in cooperation with PT Nestle Indonesia, and is aimed to encourage younger generation to actively involve in sports affairs and promote the tourism.
