... The collaboration between BNI and JCB is a break-through to deepen customer base in the retail sector... "
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - PT Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) Tbk, a state-owned commercial bank in Indonesia, has been aiming at wider credit card customers, particularly Japanese customers, through a joint-cooperation with Japan Credit Bureau (JCB).

The credit card that will be issued with JCB International Co, Ltd's logo was aimed at increasing the credit card's use and new applicants from Japanese expatriates who work in Indonesia, BNI's Japanese customers, Japanese community in Indonesia, and Indonesian fans of Japanese products, said BNI`s Director of Consumer and Retail Darmadi Sutanto here on Tuesday.

"Hopefully, this cooperation would significantly increase ownership of BNI credit cards as well as cheap funds to BNI," he said.

"The collaboration between BNI and JCB is a break-through to deepen customer base in the retail sector," added Sutanto.

On the other hand, JCB International's Deputy President Kimihisa Imada said JCB had developed partnership with BNI in view of the latter's success in developing credit card business in Indonesia, marked particularly by its 37 percent of growth and 27 percent increase in outstanding balance in 2012.

"I am sure that BNI has an outstanding name among the Indonesian communities, hence with a fusion of a Japanese trademark of qualified services that we have, the cooperation would provide an added-value for customers in Indonesia," he said.

Imada added, JCB was also committed to be actively in the investment and technology transfer of its qualified services and world`s developing technologies to the financial industry in Indonesia.

Through this joint-cooperation, BNI is expected to be able to expand its banking network worldwide with 1,636 outlets and 8,279 ATMs around Indonesia for collaboration with the JCB which has issued credit card in 16 countries and for 79 millions customers that can be used in 23 millions merchants in 190 countries.
