BNI recorded a healthy credit distribution, dominated by prospective business sectors with low risk, especially in the business banking segment
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Director of state-owned Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) Royke Tumilaar asserted that the bank will continue to drive credit raising, as was reflected in its performance in the first semester of 2021.

"BNI recorded a healthy credit distribution, dominated by prospective business sectors with low risk, especially in the business banking segment," Tumilaar noted in his written statement here on Friday.

He highlighted that until the end of June 2021, the bank had recorded credit distribution in the business banking segment worth Rp475.6 trillion, a 3.5-percent growth, from Rp459.6 trillion during the corresponding period in 2020.

The highest growth was achieved by the small business segment, with debit balance that reached Rp91 trillion, a 20.6-percent increase from the debit balance of Rp75.4 trillion in June 2020, he pointed out.

"The next highest growth is the corporate private segment, with 7.9 percent (yoy), and credit balance of Rp179.1 trillion. Meanwhile, during the corresponding period in 2020, it reached Rp165.9 trillion," Tumilaar added.

In addition, he outlined that the consumer banking segment had managed to clock a 10.4-percent (yoy) growth, or Rp92.8 trillion. Payroll-based Credit without Collateral recorded a 19.6-percent growth, reaching Rp32.7 trillion, followed by Home Ownership Credit, with 6.3-percent (yoy) growth, reaching Rp47.6 trillion.

"The growth of consumer credit indicates that public consumption that supports the national GDP is starting to revive," Tumilaar pointed out.

Through such business growth, BNI clocked Rp5 trillion worth of net profit, or a 12.8-percent growth as compared to the same period last year.

In addition, the Pre-Provisioning Operating Profit (PPOP) continues to grow and managed to hit its peak at Rp16.1 trillion in the first semester of 2021, a 24.4-percent growth from that during the corresponding period in 2020.
