"The occupancy rate is still good as it is above 50 percent which is enough to offset operating expenses including labor cost," head of the Bali provincial statistics office Gede Suarsa said here on Saturday.
A total of 252,201 foreign tourists visited Bali in March, up 4.28 percent from a month earlier or 9,20 percent from the same month last year, he said.
Most of the tourists stayed at star-rated hotels while holidaying in Bali, he said.
The highest room occupancy rate was seen in Badung district with 62,39 percent, down 79.58 percent from the month before. This was followed by Gianyar district with 51.79 percent, down from 60.97 percent in the previous month, he said.
However, star-rated hotels in Denpasar saw their room occupancy rate increasing to 48.81 percent in March from 48.17 percent in February, Karangasem district to 40.50 percent from 37.70 percent, Tabanan district to 40.10 percent from 30.29 percent.
To date, three districts in Bali, Jembrana, Bangli and Klungkung, have no star-rated hotels.
