"After the reform, Indonesia becomes one of the world`s economic powers with its economic growth over six percent," Hatta told the press here on Tuesday.
He noted that Indonesia has prospective economic growth which was recorded at 6.2 percent, and has medium-size capital that grows continuously.
According to him, it has been recorded that Indonesia has economic growth among middle class community of 55 million people which is expected to be able to reduce inequalities.
Hatta said the World Bank has calculated that the economic of middle-class people in Indonesia would be able to turn the wheel of economy to 70 percent.
"We certainly hope that the middle-class people will be more productive and become the tangible agent of change towards 2025," Hatta said.
He added that more productive middle-class people who could become producers would have a positive impact on the expansion of jobs.
Meanwhile, the Brawijaya university professor of the science of economics, Ahmad Erani Yustika, stated that the coordinating minister of economy had a big role in the effort to enhance middle-class economy in Indonesia.
But he regretted that the middle-class economic community in Indonesia grow only in the industrial sector and services, and lack of awareness of the use of government fees.(*)
