"I want to convey bankers` expectations to the government related to the subsidized fuel policy and we want a decision made immediately," Sigit said.
Sigit said certainty about an increase in the price of subsidized fuels can prevent a greater risk to the economy.
He said that the banking industry would support any decision taken by the government related to the fuel policy.
"We will work with the government to support whatever it will decide. We fear that the synergy of the government and bankers that has been running well so far will disappear if risk arises due to the uncertainty," he said.
In response to the expectations, Vice President Boediono said that the government and the House of Representatives (DPR) will soon decide the subsidized fuel policy.
According to him, the government is working hard with the parliament to ensure that the subsidized fuel price hike will have a minimum impact on the poor.
"The parliament and the government are working hard. Hopefully, this can be accelerated. I agree that we all should work hard so that the activities of banks and the real sector can work well," Boediono said in his speech to the expo. (*)
