Jakarta, June 12, 2013 (ANTARA) - The marine health in the world food procurement is the today's world's highlight issue. The issue even becomes the headline in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit which will be held in Bali, Indonesia, on October 2013. Indonesia hosting the Summit surely has already its own important agendas to be conveyed in the Summit. Ahead of the grand event, Indonesia collaborates with related, competent partners, such as the Government of the Netherlands and The World Bank as well as the Food Agricultural Organization (FAO) to organize Asia Conference on Oceans, Food Security and Blue Growth (ACOFB), June 18-21, in Grand Hyatt Hotel, Nusa Dua, Bali.

The international event is scheduled to be synergized with the launch of the Marine and Fisheries Investment Forum (MFIF) and Indian Oceans and Pacific Conference (IOPAC), June 18, 2013, in Grand Hyatt Hotel's Grand Ballroom, Nusa Dua, Bali. This regional conference expects about 300 attendees sourcing from APAC countries' representatives, business professionals, international organizations, marine and fishery scientists, academics and practitioners, as well as the related stakeholders. "To date, there are 251 attendees from 24 Asia-Pacific and other countries, as well as 15 regional and international organization representatives confirmed to attend the Forum." stated the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Sharif C. Sutardjo when attending a pers conference in Jakarta, on June 12.

The 2013 ACOFB to be officially launched by the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of Republic of Indonesia is planned to discuss four main topics; "Provoking Issues on Oceans, Food Security and Blue Growth"; "Food Security in a Changing Ocean Environment"; "Identification of Key Issues by Sharing Experiences and Knowledge in Formulating Asia Roadmap Initiatives"; and "Oceans, Food Security, and Blue Growth: Alignment and Asian Roadmap for Recommendation". After the launch, the event will be proceeded to the presentation of "Ocean Policy Directive Linkage with Investment Guidance Towards Food Security 2020". The keynote speakers include the Minister of Forestry and Fisheries of Japan, The Minister of Agriculture of People's Republic of China, The Minister of Agriculture of India and The State Minister for Research and Technology of Republic of Indonesia. "Meanwhile, the keynote speakers to be attended the Summit include FAO, The World Bank, INFOFISH, JICA, Worldfish Center, SEAFDEC, Conservation International, MRC, IOR-ARC, WWF, PNA, South Korea's KMI, SOA, ADB, Indonesia's Chambers of Commerce, PT. Kelola Mina Laut, the Marine and Fishery R&D Center, Kajiskan National Committee and Asian Fishery Society," explained Sharif.

As for the MFIF to be held for one day (June 18) includes talk show, success story, marine and fishery investment and business opportunity presentation and the investment business facilitation. The IOPAC to be held for three days (June 18-20) will be included a plenary meeting, a paralel meeting on the Understanding of the Ocean Phenomena, Ocean Resources Exploitation and Socio-economic Impacts and Sustainable Benefits. "The Conference is expected to be able to generate recommendations supported by the framework of MFIF and IOPAC in order to develop the roadmap and the plan of action for the Asia's coastal countries which is planned to
be submitted in the Global Summit on Oceans, Food Security, Climate Change and Blue Growth in Den Haag, Netherlands, September 9-13." concluded Sharif.
