"Connectivity is not only about transportation but also connection between government to government, business to business and people to people," presidential staf for foreign affairs Tengku Faizasyah said.
According to Faizasyah, President Yudhoyono also emphasized the importance of FEALAC to take part in handling global issues such as poverty and procurement of clean water to the people. The vision is in line with the result of the United Nations` High Level Panel (HLP) meeting discussing about development agenda post 2015 held last March in Bali.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono here on Friday makes courtesy visit to the 6th Foreign Ministers Meeting of Forum for East Asia and Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC) held in Nusa Dua, Bali, starting June 13-14.
Indonesia and Colombia are co-host of the 6th Foreign Ministers Meeting of Forum for East Asia and Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC). The meeting aims to establish mutual understanding, political dialogue and increase friendly cooperation between countries in the two regions.
The meeting this year is participated in by foreign affairs ministers, vice ministers and senior officials from the 36 FEALAC member countries namely Indonesia, Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, China, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Mongolia, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Equador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, peru, Dominican republic, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela.
Apart from ministers, FEALAC meeting in Bali is also participated in by representatives from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).(*)
