... still under protection of Bank Indonesia, as foreign capital are still flowing out of the country... "
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian currency rupiah is stable against the US dollar in the opening inter-bank transaction on Thursday thanks to protection by Bank Indonesia.

The rupiah value was unchanged from Wednesday's close at 9,945 to the US dollar.

"Rupiah is still under protection of Bank Indonesia, as foreign capital are still flowing out of the country," Samuel Sekuritas' economist Lana Soelistianingsih said.

Lana said from May 23 to June 24 quite massive amount of foreign funds left the country.

"Heavy selling is global pressure , but the pressure is stronger in Asian developing economies," she said.

The pressure in stronger in Asian developing economies because of fears of Chinese economy shrinking deeper than expected, she added.

"In the past two days, however, the foreign investors' selling pressure, however, has receded," she said.

Chief researcher of Monex Investindo Futures Ariston Tjendra said there is still opportunity of rupiah to gain ground with the US GDP growth target revised down.
