"We will pray so that political upheavals in Egypt could end immediately and political transition in that country could run peacefully, democratically based on the will of the Egyptians," Yudhoyono said.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said he would pray for Egypt so that political crisis there could end immediately to make way for peaceful and democratic political transition.

"We will pray so that political upheavals in Egypt could end immediately and political transition in that country could run peacefully, democratically based on the will of the Egyptians," he said at a fast-breaking dinner at the State Palace here on Thursday.

President Yudhoyono said a big change indeed often could not be done immediately and easily. A big change will usually be followed by various adjustments some of which are encouraging and others painful, he added.

"Many countries have experienced painful periods, ups and downs and that is how a big change has so far happened," he said.

President Yudhoyono said, reflecting from Indonesia`s experience 15 years ago when reform began, a lot had happened to mark the big change. Consistency is needed to assure the change to happen, he said.

He said in the past Muslems also had a big leader that could make big changes namely Prophet Muhammad.

The Prophet, he said, was able to bring big changes through consistency. In the process, the Prophet emphasized reconciliation and had never left others behind, he said.

"This is a signal for all groups in this country to work together, ethnic and tribal groups. We are one. With the unity all challenges would be settled and we certainly would be able to overcome them," he said.(*)
