We deeply feel a pang of conscience over the suffering we inflicted on the Chinese people."
Beijing (ANTARA News/Yonhap) - South Korea`s second-largest flag carrier Asiana Airlines Inc. has placed advertisements in major Chinese newspapers apologizing to China over the deadly crash of its jet in the United States.

The Boeing 777 aircraft crash landed at San Francisco International Airport on Saturday, killing two Chinese teenagers and injured more than 180 other people.

"We deeply feel a pang of conscience over the suffering we inflicted on the Chinese people and the government over the accident," Park Sam-koo, chairman of South Korea`s Kumho Asiana Group, and Yoon Young-doo, the president and CEO of Asiana Airlines, said in the ad.

The two leaders also renewed their deepest apologies to those who have been affected by the accident as they vowed to ensure that those injured will quickly recover.

In Seoul, an Asiana Airlines spokeswoman said 10 Chinese are being treated at a hospital in the U.S., though she said she had no detailed information on their condition.

The carrier also said in the ad that it will make its utmost efforts to regain the confidence of the Chinese people.

Currently, Asiana Airlines flies to and from Beijing, Shanghai and 20 other major destinations in China. It said Chinese routes accounted for 15.7 percent of its passenger revenue in the first three months of this year.

The advertisement came as South Korean and U.S. aviation authorities launched investigations to determine what went wrong in the Asiana Airlines Flight 214.

The ad appeared in major Chinese newspapers, including the People`s Daily, the official mouthpiece of the Communist Party.
