Jakarta (ANTARA News) - State-owned oil and gas firm Pertamina has promised that its fuel and gas distribution in this year`s post-fasting holiday of Lebaran will be better than the previous years, its marketing director, Hanung Budaya, said.

Hanung said here on Tuesday that a number of facilities such as terminals, storehouses, truck tanks and refilling stations were now ready to serve the people 24 hours.

"We are now ready to face the Lebaran festivities," Henung said.

He said that the most busy region during the Lebaran holiday was Region III, which covered Jakarta, Banten and West Java, with the main attention to be focused on the northern, central and southern lanes.

The Pertamina official said that based on experience in 2012, traffic jams caused fuel trucks which departed from Cikampek storehouses had to spend 3 to 4 hours to cover a distance of only hundreds of meters.

While empty trucks heading to the storehouses needed 5 to 6 hours to cover a distance of two km.

"The traffic congestion in the Jomin cross roads even caused trucks to cover the distance for about 10 hours," he said.

He said that the anticipatory step that would be taken was to use a counter flow system to penetrate congestion.

"We have coordinated with the police to help overcome traffic woes," he said.(*)
