Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Georgia Ambassador to Indonesia Zurab Aleksidze hoped that both countries can boost economic cooperation in order to improve trade value.

"Indonesia-Georgia trade value was almost reaching 40 million US Dollars in 2012. Basically we are increasing export value to Georgia by sending commodities such as Coffee bean, coconut, papers and other products," said Zurab in a press conference at Georgia Embassy here on Wednesday evening.

Zurab added the trade value figure increased from the last period and he noted that Georgia-Indonesia should improve more on the value.

He said the commodities from Indonesia, needed by Georgia, include coffee bean, medical equipment, furniture, and papers.

"We have signals of commodities that Georgia interest to Indonesia such as Robusta coffee beans, latex gloves, papers and textile also," he said.

Zurab said he has discussed with Indonesian paper companies to export and build company in Georgia.

Meanwhile, the main commodity that Georgia exports to Indonesia is wine as the country`s original distinguished product.

He also offered to Indonesia`s business persons to grow the investment in Georgia as they have many sectors to be developed such as infrastructures, energy, agriculture and mining.

"For the first quarter of 2013, foreign direct investment (FDI) in Georgia was 226.2 million US Dollars, which is increased 25 percents from previous quarter," Zurab said.

Georgia estimated that the FDI will grow over five percents in average per year from 2013 to 2016 as a result of the democratic political transition that support medium term stabilization and economic growth prospects.(*)
