Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said that much has been achieved in the past nine years of his government although problems still exist.

In view of that he called on his cabinet ministers here on Friday to immediately act to overcome the shortcomings in the development programs so that at the end of the term maximal achievements could be made.

"My conclusion is what we have done in the past nine years have brought results. Indeed there are still problems here and there and so in the remaining years we have to overcome them," he said when opening a cabinet meeting.

President Yudhoyono, who is to end his term of office next year, said based on his observation during a Ramadhan tour in the past few days in East Java he saw that development programs in a number of regions in the province had gone well.

"Indeed there are still shortcomings but progress in the life of the people has been real and concrete. The ministers that accompanied him also shared his view. When we met with the people we heard no superfluous complaints or demands. This is good," he said.

He said that "we have observed the life of farmers, fishermen, workers, education, health service, basic infrastructure and others. We have seen real progress has been made at community level in East Java."
