Bandung (ANTARA News) - Around 200,000 people are expected to visit Bandung Zoo in West Java on Idul Fitri, said a zoo official.

"We have set a target of attracting more than 200,000 visitors to Bandung Zoo this Idul Fitri because we had been able to reach our target of 170,000 visitors during the same period last year," explained Rohman Suryaman, head of the zoo`s animal and plant conservation unit, on Friday.

He noted that on Thursday, the first day of Idul Fitri, the number of visitors was not significantly high. However, he expects the numbers to increase in the next few days.

"Yesterday, only 5,974 people visited the zoo, but today and in the next few days, before the end of Lebaran, we will see hundreds of thousands of people at the zoo," Rohman said.

According to him, both local and foreign visitors visit Bandung Zoo during the holidays.

"Local visitors are from Bandung, Jakarta, Bogor, Garut, Tasikmalaya, and other towns in West Java," he said.

Located on a sloping park on Taman Sari Street, Bandung Zoo is home to various animals and old trees that give visitors a feeling that they are in a tropical forest.
