We may achieve the target if the number of tourists visiting Indonesia reaches 8.6 million by the end of this year."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The tourism sector in Indonesia hopes to raise US$10 billion this year, said Minister for Tourism and Creative Economy Mari Elka Pangestu on Tuesday.
"We may achieve the target if the number of tourists visiting Indonesia reaches 8.6 million by the end of this year," the minister said.
She explained that the number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia is on the rise. However, in July, there was a slight decrease due to the fasting month.
Mari expressed hope that in the coming months, more tourists will visit Indonesia, in light of the upcoming international events hosted by Indonesia such as the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting, World Trade Organisation (WTO) ministerial conference, and Miss World 2013.
According to the data published by the ministry, three cities in Indonesia receive the most number of foreign tourists, they are Jakarta, Bali, and Batam.
