The British Council proudly presented a team of experts from the Centre for Fashion Enterprise, one of London's foremost authorities in business development in the world of fashion, to help nurture Indonesian designers. The CFE, best known for their work with designers such as Mary Katrantzou, Peter Pilotto, Erdem and Richard Nicoll to name a few, works with new and emerging design talent and helps them to develop a sustainable and long-term strategic approach to business. CFE experts have supervised various workshops and programmes in Jakarta over the past 18-months with local designers, nurturing and incubating the talent and preparing their businesses for an International market.
September 2013 sees four of these designers, Tex Saverio, Toton, Major Minor and Yosafat, present their Spring/Summer 14 collections during Paris Fashion Week at the Trace Showrooms, from the 28-30th September. The Centre for Fashion Enterprise has been truly instrumental in preparing these designers for Paris, the epicenter of the International fashion world.
Indonesian Fashion Forward is a nurturing program for young talented Indonesian designers in order that they are ready to enter the world fashion market. This program is held with the cooperation of Jakarta Fashion Week with British Council and The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. By inviting the best fashion experts, these young designers intensively learn to develop their brands for one year. With this experience, they can compete in the world of fashion market.
This year, Indonesian Fashion Forward 2013 has selected 12 designers and labels that will receive personal guidance from the experts of CFE, in order for them to be ready to compete in the international market. They are Tex Saverio, Toton, Friederich Herman, Vinora Ng, Batik Chic, La Spina, Nur Zahra, Jenahara, 8eri, Milcah, Monday to Sunday and Nefertiti. This year, during JFW 2014 in Senayan City, these designers will showcase their works on the runway. And the most important test for the designers Indonesian Fashion Forward 2013 is their success in attracting local and international buyers in the Buyer's Room, which will open during JFW 2014.

Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW) is held annually and aimed to provide directions to the Indonesian fashion industry as well as a vehicle to demonstrate its wealth in talents and creativity. Ultimately, the goal is to turn Jakarta as a major fashion hub in the region and the world.
