Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The new Permanent Representative of Indonesia to ASEAN, Rahmat Pramono, presented his credentials to the Secretary-General of ASEAN, Le Luong Minh, at a ceremony held at the ASEAN Secretariat on Wednesday (Jan 22).

On the occasion, Ambassador Pramono expressed Indonesias strong commitment in achieving the ASEAN Community in 2015, and emphasized the importance of increasing ASEANs people awareness with community-building efforts, the ASEAN Secretariat reported on its official website.

In a meeting following the presentation ceremony, Secretary-General Minh highlighted the continued importance of the work of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR) in 2014 as ASEAN is at a critical stage in the community building process toward the ASEAN Community 2015.

Secretary-General Minh also expressed his appreciation toward Indonesia for its valuable contribution and strong commitment to ASEAN, and his keenness in working closely with Ambassador Pramono.

The ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN (DSG) for the ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) and representatives from the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC), and the Community and Corporate Affairs Department (CCAD). Ambassador Pramono was accompanied by officials from the Permanent Mission of Indonesia to ASEAN.

Prior to his appointment, Ambassador Pramono was the Secretary to the Directorate-General of ASEAN Cooperation from 2012-2013, Directorate for ASEAN Dialogue Partners and Inter-Regional Cooperation in 2012 and the Director for ASEAN Economic Cooperation from 2010-2012.

Ambassador Pramono succeeded Ambassador I Gede Ngurah Swajaya, who completed his posting on 31 December 2013. Ambassador Pramono is Indonesias third Permanent Representative to ASEAN since the establishment of the CPR in 2009.
