Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Jakarta composite index extended gain to close higher on Friday.

The index of the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) closed 1.04 percent higher at 4,646.15 points with the index of 45 most liquid stocks up 1.08 percent to 784.89 points.

"The BEI index remained in the positive area despite the fact that many said shares have been overbought," chief researcher of Trust Securities, Reza Priyambada, said

He said foreign investors still continued to buy shares especially in the financial and infrastructure sectors contributing to strengthening the BEI index.

Foreign investors recorded a net buy of Rp588 billion in Friday trading.

In Fridays trading at BEI there were 212,632 transactions with 5.03 billion shares worth Rp6.46 trillion changing hands.

Gainers outnumbered decliners by 206 : 104 with 93 shares unchanged.

Regional markets such as Hang Seng recorded a 0.78 percent increase in index to 22,568.24 points with Nikkei index up 2.88 percent to 14,865.67 and that of Straits Times up 0.46 percent to 3,099.93 points.
