Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) grilled Mahyudin, former chairman, House of Representatives (DPR)s Commission X, over the Hambalang sport center corruption case allegedly involving Anas Urbaningrum, the then secretary general of the Democratic Party.

"I have been summoned as witness in Anas case," Mahyudin of the Democratic Party stated upon his arrival at the KPK office, here, on Monday.

Mahyudin was the chairman of the Houses Commission X when the scheme for the Hambalang project budget worth Rp1.17 trillion was approved.

The indictment against Deddy Kusdinar, former head of the youth and sport ministrys financial bureau, stated that the Commission Xs working group had approved additional funds amounting to Rp150 billion in the Amended State Budget 2010 without having to go through a hearing between the working group and the ministry.

The approval was signed by Mahyudin in his capacity as the Commission X Chairman, and his members that included Rully Chairul Azwar and Abdul Hakam Naja, as well as Angelina Sondakh, Wayan Koster, Kahar Muzakir, Juhaaeni Alie and Mardiyana Indra Wati.

The total budget available for the project increased to Rp275 billion in 2010.

Mahyudin was accused of having received Rp600 million during the Democratic Party congress in Bandung, in addition to Rp500 million as a commission for his services in approving the Hambalang project budget.

Anas was suspected to have received Rp2.21 billion from the Hambalang project to support his nomination as chairman of the Democratic Party in the partys congress in 2010. The money was allegedly received in stages between April 19 and December 6, 2010.

The money was allegedly spent among other things on the congress participants hotel accommodation, car renting and blackberry phones.
