At this point, IDC has found the typical user will utilize their mobile device to access the corporate network either because there is no security, IT helps them gain access, or they are savvy enough to find a way to connect through. The enterprise mobility solution ecosystem is one that is riddled with layers, which enterprises need to quickly come to terms with. Applications, devices, connectivity, security, middleware, infrastructure, integration, managed services and delivery models plays prominent within an entire ecosystem, and this begs the question on whether enterprises in Indonesia are ready for this evolution or revolution.
In a pre-event survey, IDC Indonesia found that more than 50% of enterprises surveyed had employees who utilized both corporate provisioned and personal devices at the workplace, but close to 35% of them did not yet have a mobile device management plan. For 2014, IDC has seen that enterprises in Indonesia will be increasing their spending when it comes to mobility solutions, and all this points towards a rising maturity of Indonesia enterprises in the lifecycle.
The main point of concern going forward is how enterprises truly view enterprise mobility for their organization. IDC Indonesia has found that there are three phases of mobility adoption, spanning across "basic mobility", "enhanced mobility" and "strategic mobility". There are specific advantages within each of these phases - and while Indonesian enterprises are still parked within the "basic mobility" zone, IDC's Mobile Maturity model anticipates that maturity will heighten in the coming 3 years as more mobile strategies are defined.
