PPP Regional Branch Chairman for East Java, Musaffa` Noer, asked that SDA should explain it in a plenary meeting of PPP Central Executive Board (DPP) and PPP Regional Branches (DPW).Surabaya, E Java (ANTARA News) - United Development Party (PPP) General Chairman Suryadharma Ali (SDA) has been asked to clarify his presence in a Gerindra campaign rally in Jakarta on March 23.
PPP Regional Branch Chairman for East Java, Musaffa Noer, asked that SDA should explain it in a plenary meeting of PPP Central Executive Board (DPP) and PPP Regional Branches (DPW).
"This is an organizational problem and so it should also be settled through organizational means. He should explain it because he has done it without coordination with the party. If need be, he should apologize," Musaffa Noer stated here on Wednesday.
He explained that the presence of SDA in the Great Indonesia Movement Party (gerindra) campaign violated the organizations rules and political ethics. It hurt PPPs cadres because the political maneuver by SDA was done without coordination with the DPP and DPW.
"Actually, the settlement of the problem is simple as long as SDA is prepared to explain it to the DPW and to tender an apology if found to have made a mistake," he clarified.
He added that a total of 27 DPWs out of the 37 DPWs had called upon the DPP to organize a plenary meeting to discuss sanctions for PPPs general chairman.
"If the call for a plenary meeting is not heard, the DPW could launch a vote of no confidence because his action is considered to have violated political ethics and the partys articles of association," Musaffa stated.
During the Gerindra campaign, SDA expressed support to Gerindras presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto.
"A decision for coalition and for nominating a presidential candidate must be made in a national leadership meeting of the DPP and DPWs. It cannot be made by the general chairman alone," he stressed.
After all, he pointed out, the result of the second national working meeting of PPP in Bandung, West Java, on February 27, recommended a number of names for PPPs presidential candidates.
In the recommendation, there was no mention of Prabowo Subianto.
The February 27 national working meeting recommended the names of SDA, Jokowi, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, Israan Noor, Jusuf Kalla, Din Syamsudin and Jimly Ashidiqie.
In the meantime, Suryadharma Ali stated last week that his party remained solid despite some minor internal problems, which is normal organizational dynamism.
"Until now, PPP remains solid. The party moves in accordance with its dynamism," Suryadharma Ali, concurrently the religious affairs minister, informed the press last Friday, after appointing Nur Syam as new Secretary General of the ministry.
He added that his party has not made any decision about its possible partner of coalition. "We are still following the political map which is still developing," he added.
Unofficial tallies did not reflect the definitive results of the legislative elections and therefore, the political map could change, he explained.
"We hope, the next president will bring change to the nation for the better," he stated.
Musaffa alleged that SDAs maneuver has caused the failure of PPP to achieve its target of winning 12 percent votes in the legislative elections. Unofficial results of quick counts pointed out that PPP gained only about 7.1 percent of votes in the legislative elections held on April 9. (*)
