Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono had conveyed his condolences on the death of Indonesian violin maestro Idris Sardi, 76, who passed away at the Meilia Cibubur hospital here on Monday at 07.25 a. m. local time.

"The works of the maestro will live forever, although the strains of his violin no longer existed," the president said on his twitter account.

According to the president, Idris Sardis contribution to the Indonesian music was large.

Meanwhile, actor Sys NS said the remains of Idris Sardi will be laid in state at the Creative House in Bumi Cimanggis Indah Block B 1 No.9 in Pekapuran street, Cimanggis.

Idris Sardi was born in Jakarta on June 7, 1938. His father, M Sardi, was also a violinist.

He composed and illustrated a number of movie themes and music soundtracks. He won the Citra Trophies for the best music arrangement in Indonesian films, such as "Pengantin Remaja" (1971), "Perkawinan" (1973), "Cinta Pertama" (1974), and "Doea Tanda Mata" (1985). (*)
