The Indonesian currency closed at the level of 11,579 per US dollar gaining from 11,615 per dollar earlier.
The rupiah value rose to follow a number of regional currencies, chief researcher of Trust Securities Reza Priyambada said.
Reza said Indias rupee and Malaysian ringgit appreciated with positive sentiment after the market players responded to economic data which is in line with the market expectation in their respective countries.
He said Indonesia is expected to chalk up more surplus in trade and inflation is expected to be well under control.(*)
