Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono met with the leaders of high state institutions on Monday to discuss a wide range of issues related to the presidential election on Wednesday.

President Yudhoyono arrived at the Peoples Consultative Assembly (MPR) building where MPR Chairman Sidarto Danusubroto greeted him.

Sidarto, who hosted the meeting, said that Mondays meeting with the president was aimed at discussing efforts to ensure smooth, peaceful, honest, and fair elections without vote rigging.

Yudhoyono, who will end his second term of office in October this year, also held similar meetings with the leaders of the Regional Representative Council (DPD), the Supreme Court, the Constitutional Court, the State Audit Board, and the Judicial Commission.

The president had also held similar meetings with leaders of high state institutions ahead of the legislative election on April 9. At the meetings, the president called on all eligible voters to exercise their franchise.

"We call on all eligible voters to exercise their franchise so that the legislative election and presidential poll will become more democratic," Sidarto told reporters in Jakarta on March 20, 2014.
