"The complaint has been filed with the police alleging that the news website has violated the Information and Electronic Transaction Law. The investigation process is underway," the Prabowo-Hatta pairs lawyer, Mahendra Datta, said here on Monday.
A case has been filed with the police against the member of the board of editors Herman Daho, Hasanudin Aco (editor), and Raka F Pujangga (journalist) because they were responsible for the dissemination of the libelous news, he said.
The Tribunnews.com, he said, had intentionally published the allegedly libelous news that Fadli Zon had circulated money at Bulu wet market in the Central Java city of Semarang in connection with the presidential election campaign rally.
"What I need to stress here is that the information had already been denied, but the online media had repeatedly published the news item. So, there is an intention to publish the denied news," he said.
According to Mahendra Datta, the libelous news item was published for the second time but followed with an advertorial news.
The reason for publishing the advertorial news was for commercial purpose, he said.
In June, the Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kallas team of lawyers had also filed a police report over libelous "Obor Rakyat" tabloid.
Presidential candidate Joko Widodo said the "tabloid contains black campaigns and is a criminal act." (*)
