Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The pair of Indonesian presidential candidates, Prabowo Subianto and Hatta Rajasa, is leading in Egypt and received 70.2 percent of the votes.

The Jokowi-JK duo garnered 27.6 percent of the votes, and 2.3 percent of the votes were declared invalid, based on the results of vote counting by the Overseas Election Committee (PPLN) in Egypt on Wednesday night (June 9).

Of the 2,577 total voters casting their ballots in Egypt, 1,809 voted for the Prabowo-Hatta duo, and 710 voted for the presidential and vice presidential candidates, Joko Widodo and Jusuf Kalla, while 58 others abstained.

The Overseas Election Committee (PPLN) in Egypt provided nine overseas polling stations (TPSLN).

The implementation of voting and counting organized by PPLN Egypt took place safely and orderly.

Indonesian Ambassador to Egypt Nurfaizi Suwandi pointed out that he was proud of the enthusiasm shown by the Indonesian citizens in Egypt as they exercised their franchise orderly.

"We are grateful for the implementation of the presidential election by PPLN Egypt that ran orderly. Thanks to the cooperation of all the committee members," he noted.

The presidential election is contested by the Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa pair and the Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla duo.

According to the KPU, a total of 190,307,134 voters have been registered, which includes 2,038,711 overseas voters, with 486,866 polling stations set up across the archipelago.
