Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Presidential-elect Joko Widodo has named former industry and trade minister Rini Mariani Soemarno Soewandi to manage the preparations for his upcoming government.

Joko Widodo, or popularly known as Jokowi, expressed confidence in the credibility of his choice here on Tuesday.

"Certainly, I have checked her track records, daily as well as weekly, and her experience. Bu (Mrs) Rini has private, corporate as well as government experience," he pointed out.

Jokowi on Monday inaugurated "a transition office" headed by Rini Mariani Soemarno to prepare programs for the implementation of his vision and mission and also to deliver on his campaign promises.

"Through this office (we hope) all of the vision and mission, action programs, and campaign promises can be implemented in the best interest and welfare of the people of Indonesia," he stated while inaugurating the office in Menteng, Central Jakarta.

Jokowi denied allegations that members of the office staff were mainly from his Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), referring to Rini Mariani Soemarno as an example, among others.

"Is Rini holding a structural post in PDIP? Is Andi Wijayanto a PDIP member?" he questioned.

Andi Wijayanto is another member of the staff, in addition to Hasto Kristiyanto who is deputy secretary general, secretary of the Jokowi-JK ticket campaign Akbar Faisal, and campaign spokesman Anies Baswedan.

When questioned about Rini once being interrogated by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) over the issuance of a certificate of debt settlement (SKL) in connection with the Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance (BLBI) case, Jokowi noted that people must not play a guessing game.

"You may not do it. You may do it only if one is already arrested as a suspect," he stated.

Jokowi expressed his belief in the integrity of the former minister during the government of President Megawati Soekarnoputri, who is currently the chairperson of PDIP.
