Making a written statement from the Balmoral Castle in northern Scotland, the Queen said Scotlands vote to stay part of the United Kingdom was "a result that all of us throughout the United Kingdom will respect".
"For many in Scotland and elsewhere today, there will be strong feelings and contrasting emotions - among family, friends and neighbours," the Queen said.
The Queen responded to the "No" vote in the Scottish referendum by saying the Scottish public will come together again "in a mutual respect and support".
Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond on Friday announced his resignation after the Yes campaign s defeat in the independence referendum.
Announcing at a press conference broadcast live by Sky TV, Salmond said he will be standing down as Scotlands First Minister and leader of the ruling Scottish National Party (SNP).
Salmond said that his political career ends after the Yes campaigns defeat in the independence referendum, which was announced earlier Friday, however, the Scottish peoples campaign continues to realize the dream.(*)
