Arosuka, W Sumatra (ANTARA News) - At least 1,970 homes in Solok district, Indonesia's West Sumatra province, were flooded on Friday due to the overflowing of Batang Lembang river.

The floods triggered by incessant downpours in the past two days forced 2,200 families to evacuate, head of the Solok District Disaster Mitigation Board (BPBD) Abdul Manan said on Friday.

"Although the floodwater began to recede on Friday evening, to anticipate the possibility of further flood following drizzle, BPBD officers including quick reaction team (TRC) officers and fire fighters will remain on standby in two command posts," he said.

The floods triggered by incessant heavy rains struck the two sub-districts of Kubung and Bukit Sundi.

Abdul Manan said earlier in the day the floodwater soared to heights ranging between one to two meters.

There was no report of casualties.
