President Joko Widodo holds bilateral meeting with Tony Abbot

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Friday met with Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott on the sidelines of the G-20 summit.

"Australia is very important for Indonesia because we have thousands of our students studying here," President Joko Widodo said here on Friday.

Joko Widodo stated that though this was his first visit to Australia as the President, he was quite familiar with the country.

The President remarked that the number of Indonesian students studying in Australia showed that the relationship between the two countries was very special. So, the bilateral cooperation should be further developed.

After the bilateral meeting, President Joko Widodo met with the Indonesian community in Australia.

President Joko Widodo and his entourage arrived in Australia around 02:50 p.m. local time, after attending the ASEAN Summit in Myanmar. This week, the President also visited China to attend the APEC Summit in Beijing.
