SANTA CLARA, Calif., Dec. 9, 2014 (ANTARA/PRNewswire) -- In a new report released by Gartner, the world's leading information technology research and advisory company, Huawei was listed as a challenger for the first time in Gartner's General Purpose Disk Array Magic Quadrant*.

Mr. Yan Lida, President, Enterprise Business Group, Huawei, said, "The listing of Huawei in the Challengers Quadrant of Gartner's report shows that we have been recognized by the industry's most influential research and advisory firm and that Huawei has become a major competitor in the storage space. Huawei's storage business, based on our leading and service-driven products and solutions, will continue to grow in revenue and market share to enable enterprises to become truly agile."

According to Gartner, "Magic Quadrants provide a graphical comparative positioning of technology and service providers where market growth is high and provider differentiation is distinct. Magic Quadrants depict markets in the middle phases of their life cycle by using a two-dimensional matrix that evaluates vendors based on their "Completeness of Vision" and "Ability to Execute." The Magic Quadrant has 15 weighted criteria that are used to plot vendors on the graph based on their relative strengths in the market**.

For the report, Gartner evaluated 19 storage vendors and listed Huawei in the Challengers quadrant.

Huawei believes that this result represents the company's rapid growth in revenue and market share for the storage market, and the successful expansion of Huawei's storage business around the world. The company has continued to focus on strategic market planning, developing products and solutions based on trends of the overall storage market, and maintaining investment in technological innovation.

Huawei's "Converged and Intelligent" principle for storage has enabled more than 3,000 customers in over 100 countries to access agile services. Currently, Huawei's products and solutions have been implemented by enterprises in North America, Germany, France, India, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, and Russia.

Gartner specifies that "a vendor in the Challengers quadrant participates in the broad general purpose disk array market and executes well enough to be a serious threat to vendors in the Leaders quadrant. They have strong products, as well as sufficient credible market position and resources to sustain continued growth. Financial viability is not an issue for vendors in the Challengers quadrant, but they lack the size and influence of vendors in the Leaders quadrant."
