"Security agencies, including the police and military command in East Java, are ready to carry out their duties responsively and proportionately so people need not be disturbed by the warnings," he stated here on Wednesday.
He noted that in general, security situation in Indonesia has been relatively peaceful and stable.
"Any threat has been anticipated and, God willing, it is still within the capacity of the security apparatus to deal with," he added.
The US, later followed by Australia, recently issued a travel warning to its citizens about potential security threats to American interests in Surabaya, the capital city of East Java province.
Responding to the travel advisory issued by the US, Vice-President Jusuf Kalla remarked on Monday it had been the USs right to issue the warning although the heroic city has been safe to visit.
"Its up to them. Perhaps they acted based on their intelligence report. It is not a problem for us. It is their right," he pointed out.
Kalla observed that Indonesia also has the right to issue such a warning to its citizens abroad if it considers it necessary.
He stressed that the domestic situation has been safe and no disruption has happened so far. There has been nothing to worry about at home, including in Surabaya, he added. ***2***
