The bodies of two women and one men were recovered by fishermen on Jan 14.
"The bodies were found by traditional fishermen and the police of Sembilan Island in Kotabaru, South Kalimantan," Chief of the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) F. H. Bambang Soelistyo said at a press conference in his office in Kemayoran, Jakarta, recently.
The recovery of the two bodies brought the total count to 51.
AirAsia flight QZ8501 disappeared on December 28 en route from Surabaya in East Java to Singapore, with 162 people on board. They comprised 155 Indonesians, three South Koreans, a Briton, a Singaporean, a French, and a Malaysian.
The plane crashed in the Java Sea near Karimata Strait, some 95 nautical miles from Pangkalan Bun, Central Kalimantan.
The search operations have been coordinated by the Basarnas, with the involvement of the military, police, and Transportation Ministry, besides teams from several foreign countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, the United States, Japan, China, South Korea, India, and Russia.
