Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian government has expressed concern about security condition in Yemens capital Sanaa after Shiite Al-Houthi rebels seized control of the countrys presidential palace on Tuesday.

Indonesia fears the attacks might lead to new tensions as the Yemeni government had signed an agreement with Al-Houthi in September 2014, the Indonesian Foreign Ministry said in a press statement released on Wednesday.

The Indonesian government has expressed hope that the conflicting parties in Yemen would exercise self-restraint and give priority to the safety of all civilians in Yemen, particularly Sanaa.

The Foreign Ministry noted that the Indonesian government through its embassy in Sanas has been monitoring the security condition in Yemen.

The ministry called on Indonesian nationals in Sanaa to stay alert for emergency situation in Yemen and constantly communicate with the Indonesian embassy and other Indonesians in the country.

Yemens powerful Shiite Houthi rebels have shelled the residence of the countrys Prime Minister Khaled Bahhah at the Presidential Palace, Yemeni Information Minister Nadia Al-Saqaf said on Tuesday.

Houthi rebels have also captured strategic places around the Presidential Palace and nearby mountain range, Al-Saqaf said in a press statement posted on his Facebook page.
