According to a regulation, all criminal material evidence related to a case must be destroyed within seven days of the issuance of a prosecutor`s office`s decree on it.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The National Anti-Narcotics Agency (BNN) has destroyed some seven kilograms of methamphetamine, confiscated in a case linked to 50-year-old Mustofa, a Nigerian sentenced to death over narcotics cases.

In a press statement received by ANTARA here on Wednesday, the BNN said that Mustofa was known as the mastermind behind the narcotics transaction of around seven kilograms of methamphetamine, carried out by Dewi (37) in Gunung Sahari, Central Jakarta.

In addition, the statement mentioned that the agency had also thwarted two youths from carrying out a transaction in Kampung Melayu, and confiscated a total of 104.8 grams of methamphetamine from them.

Prior to destroying the confiscated meth, law enforcement officers set aside 132 grams of the evidence to be tested at a laboratory and to be presented as proof during a court session, bringing the total amount of meth destroyed to 7,595.7 grams.

After receiving information on a narcotics transaction to be carried out by a woman in Gunung Sahari on January 25, BNN officers arrested the woman, who was later identified as Dewi.

When searched, Dewi was found hiding 1,794.1 grams of meth in her jacket.

On searching her rented house as part of further investigation, BNN officers discovered 5,828.8 grams of meth in 56 plastic packets hidden in a cardboard box and two packages of the drug kept in a bag, which brought the total of meth confiscated to 7,622.9 grams.

Dewi told the officers that she had received orders from a man named Andi (32), a prisoner serving seven years at Nusakambangan penitentiary over a narcotics case.

Andi had asked Dewi to wait for the next order from Erick, who controlled couriers.

If convicted, Dewi will face either the maximum death penalty, or life imprisonment.

On January 30, BNN officers arrested Erick in Cempaka Wangi, Central Java, and his man, David, in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

BNN officers who investigated their cases later picked up Andi and Mustofa from Nusakambangan and took them to the agency headquarters for questioning on January 30.

Furthermore, the BNN also foiled narcotics transactions carried out by Ahmad Musodik (31) and Theodorus EO Kauripan (54) in Kampung Melayu, East Java, on January 24, and confiscated 46.7 grams of meth from them.

After searching their homes in Bekasi, West Java, officers discovered 58.1 grams of meth, bringing the total amount of evidence to 104.8 grams.(*)
